I’m excited and happy to share this pattern with you today! I have had a lot of fun making these cute little guys. Right now I am using one for all of my little knit and crochet notions. You can use yours for whatever you want! Hair accessories, office supplies, tiny toys (we have Shopkins all over the place), and so much more.
I am going to actually share two patterns. They are are the same in the beginning. One pattern is made with one strand of yarn and the second is with two strands of yarn held together. They will have slightly different outcomes. The single strand is a little more flimsy and can look like a bag. The two strands held together will make a more sturdy and solid basket. Both cute in there own way! The first pattern is shown using one strand of yarn. The second will be posted after. The pictures will help you in both patterns. Let’s get started…
Small Crocheted Basket Pattern

To finish, you can do a slip stitch into the first sc or try an invisible join.
Bind off and sew in your ends
This is what the basket looks like with one strand of yarn. If you want a more sturdy basket, try two strands held together. Check out that pattern below!

A few extra notes:
- Basket will measure about 3 inches tall depending on your tension and yarn
- Using 1 vs 2 strands of yarn will change the sturdiness and look of the basket
- hook size will depend on your personal preference and tension.
- Working with two strands can be a little hard but it’s worth it.
- You can have fun with colors. Change colors at a certain row to give it a different look
- You can stop at the round before you chain to make the handles and it can be a cute little bowl
I hope you enjoy this pattern! If you have any questions (or even find any errors) feel free to let me know. Have a great Monday folks

Such an easy pattern! I used Bernal Softee Chunky and added 6 rows (so I could finish up a partial skein) and made a purse for my niece.

That’s such a cute idea! I’m so happy you liked it. That Softee Chunky yarn is great too. I need to use it more! 🙂

Hello,
Would t shirt strips work too? I have a bunch of old shirts I could cut up.
Mary Jane says
Yes definitely! Just adjust your hook size if needed. This may also effect the size of the basket depending on how thick your t-shirts will me. Good luck!
