Today I want to share some tips for being a rock star bridesmaid. A bride’s wedding day is such an amazing and memorable moment in their life. On that day, I think they should be as stress free as possible. They should have love and support all around them.
Being a bridesmaid is such an honor. You were chosen special to stand with the bride to support her on her special day. It’s important to be there for her in any way you can.
Here are some tips I have come up with to help the bride and you on the wedding day…

~ Make it fun… Bring music (I recommend Spice Girls), dance, stroll down memory lane. Keep the bride happy and relaxed with some good laughs!
~ Bring everything you need… Start with a list and be prepared for anything.
~ Have new shoes? Break them in before the wedding by walking around the house in the shoes with some socks on.
~ Bring an emergency kit… Sometimes a personal attendant will have these items but it never hurts to have extra.
Included:
1.Pouch to carry everything 2. Tissues 3. Hand sanitizer 4. Stain remover 5. Feminine products 6. Band-aids 7. Deodorant 8. Bobby pins 9 & 10. Teeth care 11. Nail polish remover 12. Breath mints 13. Pain reliever 14. Hair spray 15. Lotion
(Target had most of these in the travel section)
~ Budget and save… be prepared to spend some money. It’s worth it in the end but save up and prepare if possible.
~ Communication… Make sure as you lead up to the wedding and the day of, that you stay in communication with the bride with any details.
~ Get to know your fellow bridesmaids
~ Keep the bride fed and hydrated. Not too much of either so she doesn’t get bloated or have to pee too much {wink}
~ Keep yourself fed and hydrated as well… Take a bathroom break before the ceremony.
~ Take care of mama… Make sure the mother of the bride can enjoy the day as best she can. Her baby is getting married after all!
~ Have your own support system… Whether you are single, married, or have kids. Make arrangements for your loved ones who are coming.
~ Stick to any makeup or hair guidelines the bride may have.
~ If you have a camera or even a good phone, don’t hesitate to take pictures. The couple can never have too many pictures to remind them of their special day!
~ Help out your fellow bridesmaids
~ Be available for any jobs or tasks that may need to be taken care of. If you see someone who may need help, don’t be afraid to ask.
~ Feel free to celebrate with some champagne or mimosas… but not too much
~ Tell the bride she is beautiful… because she is! She won’t help but glow with her beautiful dress on
~ Try not to stress… Everything will work out in some way or another.
~ Make sure someone is available for bathroom breaks for the bride… Someone needs to hold that dress. Great tip for the bride, have her face the back of the toilet when she goes. Trust me, it helps!
~ Coordinate how to get the bride’s belongings from place to place if the ceremony and reception are in different locations.
~ Be patient with pictures and have fun with it… Pictures are snapshots of their special day. No grumpy faces welcome
~ During the ceremony, don’t lock your knees. Shift your weight slightly from side to side. We don’t want any bridesmaids taking a dive!
~ Hide a tissue in your hand behind your bouquet for those emotional moments. I recommend not hiding them in your bra. We don’t want to see you reaching down your dress during those special moments.
~ Try to have a couple of people available after the reception to gather things and clean up.
~ Stay strong for your bride {wink}
~ Have fun and dance the night away! Make sure their are some designated drivers if needed
In the end, just keep the bride happy and relaxed. Enjoy your time with everyone and have a blast!
And they lived happily every after…
The bride is one of my best friends, Katie with her husband Troy.
