Three Layer Flower Pattern ::Free Pattern::


Materials:

  • Any size hook to go with the yarn you choose. I am using a 5mm for this flower
  • Yarn of your choice (I am using my favorite, Lion Brand Cotton-Ease)
  • Tapestry needle to weave in your ends

First, pick your yarn and hook size. Any yarn will work for this pattern. You can even use thicker or bulky weight yarn. The size yarn and hook you use will decide how big your flower will be. I usually use a worsted weight then adjust my hook size to make my flowers bigger or smaller.

So start, depending on what you are using your flower for, leave an 8-10 inch tail. This can be used to sew on your flower to your project.

Form a magic ring and do 5 sc into the ring. Tighten ring to get rid of the hole Slip stitch to beginning (first sc) and ch 1

Time to make your first petal! You will work a petal in each sc from the previous round, including the slip stitch.

Each petal will be *Ch1, 3dc, ch1, sl st* all into the same stitch. Sc into next stitch.*

Repeat this all the way around until you have 6 petals. Make sure your last petal is going into the sl st from the beginning so you get 6 petals

If you like this tiny flower you have made, you can always stop here! I say we keep going to make it even better. Smile Next, we need to make a place to put our next layer of petals. To do this, ch 3.

Then turn your flower down so the back is showing. You will pull the ch3 behind your first petal. Attach it into the loop furthest from your hook behind the first petal. Ch 3 See picture

Continue this all the way around behind each petal until you have 6 ch 3 spaces. Slip stitch into beginning chain

Time to make our next set of petals! First, sc into the first ch 3 space

To make petal *ch1, 4dc, ch1, sl st* all into the ch 3 space. Sc into next ch 3 space.* Continue this all the way around until you have 6 petals

Again, feel free to stop but I say we go one more round.

Ch 4 and turn flower down so you are working on the back of your flower again. Connecting to the loop furthest away from your hook on the back of the first petal. Ch 4 Do this all the way around until you have 6 ch 4 spaces. Slip stitch to beginning chain

Sc into first ch 4 space and start petal. *ch1, 5dc, ch1, sl st* and sc into next ch 4 space.* Continue all the way around until you have 6 petals

Your done!

Now just turn your flower over and sl st into any free loop and fasten off.

I use these for so many of my projects. I even make them in bulky yarn, which are really pretty. You could add a button to the middle, make each layer a different color, add to hats, make hair flips, whatever you want. Go ahead and get creative. I hope you have fun!

Three Layer Flower Pattern

Terms: ch: chain

sl st: slip stitch

sc: singe crochet

dc: double crochet

st: stitch

Instructions:

Round 1: Leave a long 8-10 inch tail, make a magic ring. 5sc in magic ring and tighten up the middle. Sl st to beginning of the round

Round 2: *Ch1, 3dc, ch1, sl st all into the same stitch. Sc into next st.* Continue all the way around until you have 6 petals.

Round 3: *Ch 3, bring ch behind first petal, sl st into loop furthest from hook behind the first petal*.  Repeat all the way around until you have 6 ch 3 spaces. Sl st to beginning ch.

Round 4: Sc into first ch 3 space. *Ch1, 4dc, ch1, sl st* all into the same ch 3 space. Sc into next ch 3 space.* Continue all the way around until you have 6 petals.

Round 5: *Ch 4, bring ch behind first petal, sl st into loop furthest from hook behind the first petal.* Repeat all the way around until you have 6 ch 4 spaces. Sl st to beginning ch.

Round 6: Sc into first ch 4 space. *Ch1, 5dc, ch1, sl st all into the same ch 4 space. Sc into next ch 4 space.* Continue all the way around until you have 6 petals. Sl st to any loop in back of the flower and finish off.

Weave in your ends.

Let me know if you have any questions! I know it may seem confusing complicated when you work on the back of your flower. I promise it will get easier once you get your groove. I have this flower pattern memorized now! Maybe because I make them so much

  44. Thank you for sharing this pretty pattern. You gave clear and easy to understand instructions. I’m just getting back into crocheting after many years and I’m pretty rusty. I used it on a hat for my great-granddaughter. It really made the hat.
