I decided to try to participate in the annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week! I missed last year but did it the year before. (Click here if you want to read my posts from 2011) It’s a lot of fun! If you want to join and get more info, click here.
Day One: The House Cup
Everyone is supposed to pick a “house” or category that best describes yourself as a crafter. Looking through I decided on this guy… The House of the Monkey
The House of Monkey: Intelligent and with a fun loving side, Monkeys like to be challenged with every project presenting them with something new and interesting.
I thought this was perfect because I love a challenge. I started as a crocheter but was always curious about knitting. I am comfortable with my crocheting skills so I needed a new challenge. It took me three or four tries to get the hang of knitting. I finally got it and became excited to try more. I started basic then kept trying new and more difficult projects. I have realized I am not a very patient crafter. I like quick results and projects that keep me engaged. Blankets are definitely not my cup of tea. The best part about trying a new and challenging project is what you can learn. Most of the new projects I try are ones that make me try some type of new stitch or technique. Here are some projects I have made that have really challenged me and I had a lot of fun making.
Crochet Bag … This was my first big crochet project
Owl Hat… This was challenging because I have a hard time with sewing on the extras like the eyes and beak.
Jar Cozy… This was a challenge because I didn’t have a pattern. I just made it up as I went along and hoped it would fit the jar I used.
Now for the knitting projects. I would say all of them have been hard!
Hippo and Elephant… These guys were really fun!
Last but not least, the Autism Awareness Puzzle Hat!
Trying new things is so fun and exciting! I can’t wait to try more and continue to work on my skills.

Love the things you have crocheted and knitted. I am crocheter and haven't ventured into knitting, yet. I just started a blog,
penny-hill.com of my own. I look forward to visiting here again!

I'm a crocheter who learned to knit about 10 years ago, and I really like doing both. The Swing Set cardi needs to go on my to do list.
