Last night I finished my friend Jess’ chevron blanket! I didn’t even realize I was done until I double checked the pattern to see how many rows I needed. I added a couple extra to make it a little bigger. I weaved in the ends while I was talking to my husband on the phone and it was finished just like that. This pattern was so easy! This is the first chevron (aka Ripple) pattern I’ve tried.
I used a cotton/acrylic blend yarn so it’s really soft and cozy. But it’s also light because the stitches are a little more open.
I drew out two different ways to use the stripe pattern for this so my friend could choose. One was alternating colors two rows at a time. The other was big stripes like this one. I think the bigger stripes are better when you’re using only two colors.
I did six rows of each color within each stripe.
I always love the colors Jess chooses for her blankets. She has two little girls and is overwhelmed with pink in her house. So she wanted something a lot different but was still girly.
I can’t wait to send this to her! I hope her little Hazel will like it. I am seriously considering making one of these for the new baby. As I was working on it I didn’t want to make another blanket but seeing how it looks when it’s done changed my mind! I am thinking just a simple brown and blue pattern for the little guy.
Blanket Info:
Pattern: Child’s Chevron Throw from Lion Brand
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton-Ease Colors: Plum and Sapphire
Hook: US J10/6mm
That’s all folks! I would highly recommend this pattern if you want to try out a chevron/ripple pattern.

This is such a nice pattern. The one time I tried a ripple it did not turn out so well. This one looks a lot less complicated. Thanks for sharing it, I know your friend will love it!

A lovely pattern and interesting colour choice! I am busy with my 3rd ripple and use the Neat Ripple from Attic 24, which works out much the same as this one.
A lovely present.
