Here is my Work In Progress project this week…
Hey everyone! Excuse me while I dust off the crochet blog here…. I have been in a creative rut recently. I have plenty of projects I could be doing, like the knitted puppy for my daughter. I just lost a lot of steam. Does this happen to any of you? I got a text message last week from my friend Jess and she was wondering if I could make her little one a blanket. I was excited because it was the change I needed to get me back into crafty mode again. After some emails with different ideas and designs, she decided on a chevron (aka ripple) blanket. Before I started, I sketched out two different ideas for the striping. Either thin stripes alternating the two colors, or bigger thick stripes. She chose the bigger stripes, which was a great idea since she only wanted two colors. I do six rows of each color. When it’s finished it will be probably 60 rows total
I love the colors she chose. I have made a couple blankets for her now and she always picks great colors. She has two girls and she wanted girl colors but not pink. These are perfect! The pattern is from Lionbrand.com and is really easy. Child’s Chevron Throw That’s all for now friends. I hope doing this blanket will get me motivated again. I may work on my granny square blanket next.
Have a great Wednesday

Lovely blanket! I definitely get creative lulls where I just can't get motivated to knit, crochet or make anything – my friends / family usually start checking my temperature incase I'm ill! It usually passes and sounds like an unexpected project request might just have sorted you out 🙂

Yup, I get in creative ruts at times, too — that's when I read a LOT! That blanket is going to be so pretty when it's finished. I love the ease of ripple patterns.

Oh my, I have been in the biggest crochet rut EVER recently! You are definitely not alone. In a way, though, it's always a nice thing to lose steam for a bit because it makes hobbies that much more fun to return to. 😉
That blanket is beautiful, by the way! I'm working on a granny square blanket today (hopefully) to list in my new Etsy shop (oh boy!). Something relaxing on this rainy day. 🙂

I've been wondering about those two colors together and now I know they are AWESOME! Beautiful.

I love the ripple pattern! And the big stripes means less ends to weave in 🙂

I feel ya on being in a rut. I have lost almost all willingness to craft of any kind. I had to join a swap to make my self be creative. Glad she gave you some motivation, hopefully it will continue onto other things.

I completely understand! When I get in a crochet rut (it happens frequently), I have to find a new project to motivate me again.
The blanket looks beautiful so far; I love the colors!
Blessings,
Kate

Those are beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing the pattern as well. I love this stitch and is so crazy about it that I want to work on another. What type of yarn did you for this?

Do you know of any way to make the points of the chevrons more severe?
