This last weekend was so relaxing! We got quite a bit of snow Friday morning so we spent our time all cozy inside. I was still getting a couple goodies in the mail from Christmas and my birthday Friday and Saturday. Including my camera bag from my mom and a sweet birthday card with a Starbucks gift card from my good friend Jess.
Friday after the roads were clear and everything was plowed, I took a trip by myself to Hobby Lobby. It was so fun! I got a bunch of fun goodies. The thing I am most excited about is this Afghan Hook. It’s a lot like circular knitting needles, which allows you to hold more stitches.
I can see a Tunisian crocheted blanket in the future 
Saturday was just perfect. My hubby took charge of our daughter and played with her downstairs while I spend my time upstairs crocheting and knitting. It was just what I needed! I also had my Knit & Crochet Today DVD’s playing on the TV to make it even better.
I can’t believe how much I was able to get done! I lost track of how many granny squares I made. I figured out the width I wanted for the blanket and then started on the next row. It ended up being 13 squares across. I blame the hubby for the odd number since I had asked if I should add just one more. He said yes
I’m up to 17 squares and I love every one of them. I even let my daughter choose the colors for one square. They weren’t the prettiest colors together but I didn’t mind. That will always be a special square to her and me

I still can’t get over how much easier and rewarding it has been joining the squares as I go. Not only that, but keeping up with weaving in the ends. It makes it so much more enjoyable. Speaking of those little yarn ends, I found a place for mine!
I’m just using a washed out spaghetti jar! I didn’t like them sitting on the table so I put them all in here. The cool thing is the colors mixed together are really pretty. I may have to do something with them when I’m done.
Lastly, yesterday I finished my knitted dish cloth. This was a fun knitting project to try. It was good practice for me. The only hard part about it was working with the cotton yarn. It just didn’t work right with my needles. There was a lot of sticking and tightness. That may be my fault though for knitting too tightly. Either way, it’s done and I can’t wait to use it!
So if you can tell, I am still in full Granny mode. I am loving this project so much! I apologize in advance for the amount of granny squares that may appear on this blog until the blanket is done.

I love granny squares too. I have never been ambitious enough to join a bunch of squares, though. One of these days I will have to give it a go! Love all the colors you are using, just beautiful 🙂

I love your granny squares.they are addicting!. just a thought for the little snippets of yarn. take them out back and toss in bushes or trees for the birds to use in their nests:).happy stitching,Amy

I like your Granny Squares, they are very bright and cheerful. I am doing one of sorts it's called Park Slope Afghan. If you are on Ravelry, you can find it there. I think it's lovely that you let your daughter pick colors, she will always have that memory. I really like knitted dish clothes, better than crocheted ones. They don't seem to stretch as badly as the crocheted ones. I love them too, they are so good for the bath, dishes and even washing the car!

I love your granny squares, and so much fun aren't they? I wanted to ask you what yarn do you use?, they colors are all so vibrant, rich and bright.
A great use for those little ends is to put them in a mesh bag, hang them in a tree for the birds to use in their nests 🙂
